Rose Garden Egg Card

Rose Garden Egg Card

How pretty is this rose garden egg card? I've used one of our Small Easter Egg pattern starters to create it.

In this short tutorial, I'll show you how it's done. See our video tutorial at the end of the article.

How to create a Rose Garden Egg Card

Materials

  • White card stock
  • Card stock in a colour of your chioice for the card inside
  • Permanent Markers (I've used sharpies)
  • White and black gel pens
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • The egg design pictured from our Small Pattern Egg set

How to

In the centre scallop spaces, draw rough outlines of rose shapes. Colour them in.

Draw more rough rose shapes in the top and bottom scallop spaces. They will need to be cropped where they bleed off the edges.

Colour the space around the roses in a different shade of pink.

Add colour to the remaining spaces as shown.

Use a black gel pen to outline each rose and fill with a closed spiral circle in the centre of each.

Repeat for the remaining roses in the centre strip.

Gel pen tip: When using gel pen, it's best to go from left to right and top to bottom to avoid smearing your artwork. Gel pens take a few minutes to dry. If you're beginning in the centre as I have above, turn the egg upside down when working on the top part so you're still working from top to bottom.

In the thin, pale green strips, draw a wavy line. On each wave, draw a small leaf.

In the dark green spaces, use black gel pen to draw a fine crosshatch pattern.

Use a white gel pen to add small white polka dots to the blue space.

Use white gel pen to add detail to the top and bottom roses.

Cut the egg out.

To make the card base, cut along the horizontal line to separate the two bases. Fold in half and cut the egg shape out. Glue the finished pattern art egg to the top of the card.

Write your message in the middle, if you can handle giving such a pretty card away!
